Plants & plant care
Plant supplies are available all year but our plants are available from late April to late August depending on you rplanting zone weather.
Waterlilies belong to the nymphaea family of aquatic plants. Our lilies range from dwarf/small lilies that are under 3' spread, medium lilies 4-6', large lilies over 6'. We have deep reds, reds, pinks, yellows, changeable, peach, and white waterlilies. All lilies do best in at least 6 hours of sun a day. They bloom best when fertilized regularly. Start off with a fast acting fertilizer and a time release tab at planting for the most blooms.
When planting waterlilies keep them damp and be careful not to damage the growing points. Clip off long leaves to make handling them easier. Place a plant label in the bottom side of the pot and on top of the pot. Losing the name of the lily decreases it's value. Fill the bottom of the pot with soil or aquatic plant mix up to about 1-3" add fertilizers, fill with media, up to 2-3 inches from the top, place the cut ends of the lily root on the outside of pot add 1-2 inches of soil. Leave about an inch at the top to put 3/4"sized rock (marble chips look great) on top of the soil to keep fish from digging in the roots. Water well. Place on a planting shelf on brick or a crate so they are 4-6 inches from the surface until growth begins. Lower lilies to about 1 foot off the bottom of the pond as they grow. Smaller lilies should be closer to the surface. Happy Fish pond palaces make great plant stands.
Hardy lilies grow across the pot. You can put 1-3 lilies in each pot for nice full growth. Hardy lilies will survive zones 4- 11.

Hardy lilies will continue to bloom until a light frost hits. After the first frost remove the leaves with pruners and move the pots to the bottom of the pond for the winter. Here are some basic guidelines for to number of plants to use in common sizes of ponds. 4'x6' 1 lily, 5-8 bog plants, 3 floaters, 24 submerged plants. 6'x11' to 11'x11' 2 lilies, 9-13 bog plants, 6 floaters, 44 submerged plants. 11'x11' to 14'x16' 3 lilies, 10-15 bogs, 8 floaters, 90 submerged plants. 16'x10' to 16'x21' 5 lilies, 13-18 bog plants, 12 floaters, 160 submerged plants. 21'x21' to 26'x 26' 7 lilies, 20-28 bog plants, 15 floaters, 200 submerged plants.
